Food Market Hub Appoints Chee Ping Lim to Accelerate International Expansion
In solidifying the company’s presence in Southeast Asia, Food Market Hub is delighted to welcome Chee Ping Lim as Head of Regional Expansion. In this role, Chee Ping (CP) will lead the overall planning, strategising and execution of the expansion to new markets in SEA. Chee Ping, previously the Business Expansion Manager at Huobi, possesses over a decade of experience in market launching with a proven track record of establishing markets across many regions.
“The core of the platform itself is revolutionary. I believe that the company has the capacity to bring forth digitalisation to the F&B industry not only across Asia but also worldwide. It can completely remodel the traditional way of running a business for all F&B operators,” CP stated.
CP sees a big potential in Food Market Hub and is excited to join a company that is growing and expanding rapidly. Knowing that Food Market Hub has the first-mover advantage in Southeast Asia and looking at how high the market valuation is in the B2B market, he is confident that he will ace this role.
To date, Food Market Hub is present in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Despite the rapid expansions, the F&B industry has been heavily affected by the pandemic, with lower occupancy rate within premises, restaurants were struggling to stay afloat and were forced to rely on food delivery services as a source of income, CP and his team had to re-strategise.
“We spoke to many vendors and to our surprise, we received many positive sentiments. The food supply was growing rapidly amidst the pandemic.”, CP added. He quickly saw that entering the market by connecting restaurant owners through food suppliers was the way to go. By acquiring food suppliers to onboard Food Market Hub, they are able to acquire restaurant chains to onboard our system, as it simplifies the ordering process for both parties. This strategy has proven worthy in the Malaysian market and has contributed to the success in the launch of the Indonesian market.
CP extends his offer to people with a can-do attitude to join his team in the current and future launches at Food Market Hub. He wishes to build a team with a strong rapport in the industry, that will continue to progress in both career and character even after progressing to the next chapter of their lives.
CP’s next expansion is targeted at Vietnam as the country’s high GDP growth rate, young population, and high internet adoption rate has deemed a high chance of success in market penetration. By achieving over US$1 Billion worth of transactions from 0 in his previous company (Huobi), he is certain that the launch of Food Market Hub in Vietnam will be a triumphant one.
